Arsenal surrendered a two-goal lead twice as Liverpool came back to squeeze their way through to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on penalties. Mesut Ozil returned to the side and turned in a magical display before being substituted on the 65th minute.
A series of strange substitutions, perhaps with the weekend in mind handed Jurgen Klopp’s side the impetus and the Premier League leaders forced a shoot-out before scoring all five of their penalties to secure progression. Arsenal Head Coach Unai Emery has been under increased pressure in recent weeks and it appears some of the clubs supporters have had enough.

Emery out – no need to “esplain”
Though playing Xhaka each week “espains” a lot

In 16 matches versus the big 6, Arsenal has only won 3 in the last 18 months.
Unai Emery has made Arsenal competitive so he says. That is his record vs the big 6. #EmeryOut you don’t need to a seasoned football expert to see that Arsenal is on a fall

I don’t think you can still be Emery in after all the braindead decisions

Lose to wolves Saturday and that’s him done!— Russell Lewis (@Russlewis1979) October 31, 2019
Emery out definitely. Clueless substitutions, still a leaky defence, dropping our best CAM, lost ability to pass a football and control the game. What has he improved?

Get this joker out of my club

What do we think?
There is no question the Spaniard’s changes had a negative effect on the game from an Arsenal perspective. Torreira and Ozil, two of Arsenal’s best players on the night were replaced by Ceballos and Guendouzi who struggled to cope with the pace of the game.
At a time when Emery’s squad are almost on their knees in terms of confidence, a victory at Anfield, albeit against a weakened Liverpool side, would have done their morale the world of good. It feels like an opportunity missed to temporarily relieve himself of the mounting pressure, and with a tricky fixture versus Wolves coming up at the weekend, we could be seeing the beginning of the end for the former Paris Saint-Germain boss.
