Sir Kenny Dalglish was blown away by Christopher Jullien’s performance in Celtic’s 2-0 win against Rangers at Ibrox last week.

Jullien, 26, arrived at Parkhead in the summer transfer window in a £7million deal from Toulouse to make him the second-most expensive signing in the club’s history.

Hoops legend Dalglish reckons that Neil Lennon can be pleased with the signings he made in the summer, especially after Jullien’s imposing display against the Gers.

“Neil will be thrilled with getting Fraser Forster in, and Christopher Jullien looks like a solid and reliable central defender. He was outstanding last Sunday,” said Daglish on the Sunday Post website.

“Also the addition of Greg Taylor from Kilmarnock was one he wanted to get over the line.

“It could have been doom and gloom with the loss of Kieran Tierney, but it has all worked out very well.”

TIF Tactics

As far as Old Firm debuts go, Jullien’s was one of the best that we have seen by a defender in a long time.

According to stats by WyScout, the former France youth international won each of his four aerial duels and five out of six defensive duels.

Jullien also completed one sliding tackle, made five interceptions, four clearances and 11 recoveries.

Rangers’ attack has not been made look so toothless by one single player in a long time and Celtic supporters can be thrilled to know that Jullien has already started life so well in Glasgow.

Terrace Talk

It seems as though it’s not just Dalglish who claims that Jullien had a superb performance against Rangers last weekend.

A lot of Celtic fans took to Twitter to sing their praises of the Frenchman, who hardly let Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos get a sniff at goal when they were on the pitch.

Celtic have had a lot of great players down the years and what defines whether or not a player can write himself into the club’s folklore is how he performs in the big games against Rangers.

Jullien may only have been a Celtic player for a matter of weeks but he has taken a major stride towards becoming a new Parkhead favourite.
