Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen, claiming that he is a “maestro”.

The £75,000-a-week Dane [Spotrac] has enjoyed another fine season in north London, hitting 10 goals and assisting 17 more.

And Redknapp has been quick to sing his praises.

Writing in a column for the Daily Mail ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final against Liverpool, he said: “The maestro.

“He’s got that X Factor and, believe me, Liverpool will be worried about what this guy is capable of.”

OPINION

These are big words from Redknapp, but he is absolutely on the money. Eriksen is not just a game changer, he is game dictator, and he sets the rhythm and the tempo of Spurs’ play like a metronome in the centre of the park. His vision is unreal, and his passing is always crisp and intelligent. When he plays well, Spurs tend to play well, and if he can get his range in early against Liverpool, it would give his side a much better chance of getting something on Saturday. Rumours continue to swirl about his future at the club, but if this does prove to be his last game for Spurs, what better way to go out than with a Champions League trophy. There is a reason why Eriksen is such a highly sought after talent, and supporters will just be hoping and praying that he illustrates that to the world when it maters most.
