Paris Saint-Germain have offered midfielder Julian Draxler to Tottenham, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claimed via their live transfer blog on Friday [01:03pm] that Draxler, 25, is valued at £35million and is seen as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen in North London.

It is understood that the Denmark international wants to quit Spurs this summer with Real Madrid and Inter Milan considering a swoop to sign him.

The Mirror adds that PSG are also hopeful of taking advantage of Eriksen’s situation and are ready to move on Draxler, who is surplus to requirements at the Ligue 1 champions.

Good move for Tottenham?

Draxler is a great player and even though he is someone who PSG are willing to get rid of this summer, he still play well for the French side last season as he scored five goals and supplied 12 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.

The Germany international was a regular for PSG and he would be a top addition for most sides in the Premier League, but would be make a good replacement for Eriksen? Probably not.

Draxler is a lot more attack-minded than Eriksen, who is more of a playmaker.

Last season, the former Schalke ace played on both wings, in the attacking midfield position and mostly in the central midfield area.

He would be a good option to add some strength in depth to the squad but he would not walk into the Spurs starting line-up, and that is why he wouldn’t be an amazing signing by Mauricio Pochettino.

Likely to happen?

Daniel Levy might be very interested in this deal if Draxler is up for grabs for £35million.

Nowadays that gets you quite an average player in the Premier League but Draxler is someone who has won a lot of silverware in his career, including the World Cup, and would be a good squad player.

There could be legs to this, but it’s still too soon to tell.
