Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claimed via their live transfer blog on Friday [09:56am] that Brighton, Sheffield United and Derby are also interested in the in-demand 23-year-old, who played a key role in the Robins’ impressive 2018/19 campaign in the Championship.

It is understood that Brighton and newly-promoted Sheffield United are winning the race for Brownhill’s signature at this early stage in the summer transfer window.

Good move for Leeds?

Marcelo Bielsa needs to look into adding some strength in depth to all areas of his squad this summer, as well as upgrading certain areas of his starting line-up.

One of Leeds’ strongest areas has been the centre of their midfield, but Brownhill is someone who can certainly make an impact at Elland Road and should be good addition if Bielsa is able to agree a deal with Bristol City this summer.

The coveted former Preston ace made 49 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring six goals and supplying four goals in the process.

He would no doubt be a welcome addition at Elland Road.

Likely to happen?

It could be hard for Leeds to sign Brownhill this summer.

The midfielder is currently attracting attention from the Premier League and that could be something that stops the Whites from pulling off a deal, especially as Bristol City will more than likely get a bigger fee from someone like Brighton.
