Tony Cascarino shared he was concerned about Jack Wilshere’s injury problems after he struggled to feature for West Ham in his 2018/19 campaign.

The pundit shared it felt like it had been ages since the 27-year-old had played football and insisted that only being able to play 10 or 12 times a season would take its toll on him in the long term.

Cascarino shared that he thought Wilshere was such a talent but seemed worried about him after the midfielder featured only eight times for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

“It feels like a long time since Jack has played football considering the injuries he has had this season,” said Cascarino on talkSPORT (Saturday June 8th, 8:44am).

“His career has been littered, certain injuries have come back, and Jack was such a talent, and still is, but you can’t keep going through your career playing 10 or 12 times a season.

“It will take its toll in the long term.”

OPINION

So many people are probably concerned for Wilshere’s career as it was really disappointing to see him stuck on the sidelines in his latest campaign. The 27-year-old joined the Hammers and there was so much hope that he was going to be able to feature regularly. This belief was held by many as after all Wilshere did manage to make 40 appearances in his 2017/18 campaign when still on Arsenal’s books. Yet his latest campaign, saw his injury problems once again get the better of him. However the midfielder did manage to make himself available to Pellegrini before the season ended and that should be seen as a positive sign. If Wilshere can stay fit throughout the summer and get a full pre-season under his belt, then perhaps he will be able to feature on a regular basis in his 2019/20 campaign, as there is no denying that he is a talented player.
