Tottenham have set their sights on replacing Christian Eriksen with Olympique Lyonnais forward Nabil Fekir if the Danish ace leaves north London this summer, according to L’Equipe.

The French publication claim on their website that the 25-year-old is out of contract in 2020 and that negotiations over a new deal have been abandoned, leaving Tottenham keen on pouncing for the versatile attacker.

It is stated that Fekir, who was part of France’s World Cup winning squad in 2018 and scored 12 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions this season just gone, has been rated at £50million by Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas but that his contract status could see him leave for less.

Good move for Tottenham?

Fekir is one of those names that plenty of fans in England will have heard of after the well documented collapsed move to Liverpool last summer. It seemed almost inevitable that he would be playing in red but could it be the white of Tottenham he will be wearing?

He has not carried on his explosive performances of the 2017/18 campaign, where he scored an impressive 23 goals and notched up eight assists, but you cannot ignore his contribution this season, having either scored or set up 21 goals.

If Eriksen goes Tottenham definitely need to find someone to fill that gaping void and Fekir, who can play as an attacking midfielder, a second striker or a centre forward, certainly ticks that particular box, as well as many others.

If Spurs can get him for a cut price deal then this could be quite the coup for the Lilywhites.

Likely to happen?

With his contract out next summer, it seems as though a move is definitely on the cards and there is no reason why Tottenham cannot be leading the queue for his arrival.

The north Londoners were Champions League finalists and are battling for a top four position in the Premier League, meaning their ambitions are not to be questioned.

A big money contract and regular playing time could be all they need to promise to get Fekir on board.
