There have been few talents in the Premier League as raw and exciting as Gareth Bale was during his time at Tottenham.

The Welshman grew into himself in north London after completing a move from Southampton back in 2007, and there was a spell prior to his big money switch to Real Madrid during which he was genuinely unplayable.

He would take matches by the scruff the neck and shake the life out of them, dominating teams with his high octane, relentless brand of attacking football.

It was little surprise, therefore, that his form earned him a move to one of the biggest clubs in the world, and for a while everything was going swimmingly.

Bale has won just about everything Spain, including four Champions League trophies in five years, but he has reached a point now where he has to move for the sake of his career.

The forward has become a deeply unpopular figure in Madrid, and is understood to have been deemed surplus to requirements by Real boss Zinedine Zidane, so much so that the club are desperately trying to offload him this summer, as reported by the Mirror.

Bale has been offered around, with both Manchester United and Tottenham turning their noses up at the £75 million Madrid are asking for a permanent deal.

But the Spanish giants are reportedly getting desperate, and the Mirror’s report claims that the club could be willing to let Bale go out on loan.

If that is true then Daniel Levy must rethink and bite Real’s hand off.

Bring Bale home for a season and see how things pan out. If he sets the world alight, as you would expect him to, then go the whole hog and snap him up, if not, send him back with little lasting damage.

Signing Bale would be a gamble, but this is a surefire way to make sure Spurs come out as winners.
