Sometimes things just don’t work out the way you expected them to.

When Cristhian Stuani signed for Middlesbrough back in 2015, the hope was that he would provide a versatile and potent option up front for the club as they looked to reestablish themselves as a Premier League side.

Instead, the Uruguayan flopped somewhat on Teeside, scoring just 16 goals in 67 appearances, and was shipped out to Girona in 2017.

Since then, he hasn’t looked back. Another 67 appearances have come and gone, but this time they have yielded 41 goals, including an impressive 20 in all competitions this season.

That is a fearsome record from the 32-year-old, but his record is made all the more impressive by the fact that he has hit that return playing for a side who just suffered relegation from the Spanish top flight.

Simply put, the South American is a goalscoring machine. What’s more, he’s a machine who is leaving Girona on a free this summer.

Out of contract and looking for a club, Stuani is on the move, and Leeds Live believe that Leeds United should snap him up.

It’s hard to disagree with them. Marcelo Bielsa’s side created more chances than anybody else in the Championship last season, but whereas Norwich City and Sheffield United both registered chance conversion rates in excess of 17%, United’s was just 11.4%, as reported by LUFCDATA.

A finisher, therefore, wouldn’t go amiss at Elland Road this summer, and if you can get a hitman as prolific as Stuani on a free transfer, it really is an absolute no brainer.

Snap him up.
