Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has heaped praise on manager Neil Lennon and revealed the difference inĀ his coaching style to previous managerĀ Brendan Rodgers.

Lennon took over on a temporary basis from Rodgers in February, after the Northern Irishman left to join Leicester City, and managed to guide Celtic to both the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish Cup last term.

That success has seen Lennon offered the Celtic job on a permanent basis for the second time this summer, and Brown believes that the club’s squad are content under the former Hoops player’s coaching.

As quoted in the Daily Record, he said: “Now Neil is in and everyone is enjoying that as well. People respect him and he’ll maybe do it a bit differently, letting John Kennedy take some training and sitting back a bit like Martin O’Neill used to do.

“It’s two different styles, there’s no right or wrong.

“It’s down to what kind of manager you want to be.”

OPINION

It is interesting to see the difference Brown describes between Lennon and Rodgers’ coaching methods, with Celtic’s new permanent boss adopting a more watchful approach rather than getting as involved as Rodgers did. Brown is right to point out that every manager has different methods and as he suggests Celtic’s squad are enjoying life under Lennon in his second spell in charge. That perhaps was evidenced by Celtic managing to win a third successive treble under Lennon, after Rodgers left the club mid way through last term – a move which could have had a real negative impact. However, although there were times where Celtic’s form suffered Lennon managed to guide the club through those moments and managed to win two trophies at the end of the campaign. Celtic supporters will hope the squad continues to be satisfied with Lennon’s coaching methods next term, when the real test of his second spell at Celtic Park will begin.
