COMMENTARY
Many Aston Villa fans were thrilled to hear their club were reportedly pursuing the services of Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge. Wales Online reported on Monday that the Villans had seen an £8million bid for the 29-year-old shot-stopper rejected by Cardiff and claimed that the recently relegated club are looking for someone to bid more than £10million. However despite the set-back, it seems many Villans fans wanted it to be known they thought their club was pursuing a talented player. Several called Etheridge class, while others just urged Aston Villa to get a deal done. One Villans fan was convinced that the 29-year-old goalkeeper was so good, and had a brilliant attitude, that it would be absolute steal if Dean Smith’s side were able to get the keeper for below £10million. Yet seeing as Cardiff will likely stand firm with their price tag, after all Etheridge was their most impressive player in the Premier League in their 2018/19 campaign, it’s hard to see that scenario coming true.

Not sure why people are slating this. Top keeper, good age, brilliant attitude and an absolute steal if we get him for under £10 mill!

If there is any truth in this I’d welcome it. Etheridge is quality, we could get him for £10m apparently. Steer is a decent GK but his distribution in the EPL – sorry but no! https://t.co/b3VaIyQlsY
