Tottenham are expecting a bid from Juventus for out-of-form right-back Kieran Trippier, according to Matt Law from the Telegraph.

Former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has been unveiled as the new boss of the Italian giants and he wants Trippier as his new right-back if Joao Cancelo goes to Man City.

Sarri thinks the pace of Serie A would suit Trippier, 28, who has really struggled for form over the past season.

Trippier is one of the players Tottenham are looking to move on as Mauricio Pochettino looks to bring in new blood, and Spurs would be looking for £25million for the former England international.

Tanguy Ndombele, Nicolo Zaniolo, Donny van de Beek and Ryan Sessegnon are mentioned as Pochettino’s top targets for the summer, but he may also bring in a right-back if Trippier is sold.

Good move for Spurs?

Trippier’s fall from grace has been fairly spectacular. He was brilliant in the 17/18 season and then enjoyed a fantastic World Cup before returning to Spurs. A sluggish start to the season was initially put down to World Cup fatigue but Trippier never recovered and came in for sustained criticism from Tottenham fans throughout the season. Tripper himself admitted that his form had been poor in an interview when he said, “I could have done a lot better this season.” He couldn’t really explain his loss of form though saying, “It’s just one of those things. It just happens”. That was back in March but there was no improvement between then and the end of the season and he was dropped from the England squad for the Nations League games. Tottenham fans don’t want to see him in north London next season and £25million would seem like very good business.

Likely to happen?

Juventus wouldn’t have been the first club that came to mind for a Trippier move, especially as Sarri would have seen a lot of him last season. A move will depend on Joao Cancelo going to Man City but the report claims that Napoli are also interested and we’re pretty sure that Tottenham would do the deal if £20-£25million was on the table. It’s hard not to feel for Trippier – he’s an honest player, as evidenced by his interview, but he needs a new start and without saying it’s likely to happen, we hope it does.
