Italian newspaper Il Mattino (via the Mail) has claimed that Kieran Trippier has agreed personal terms with Napoli over a summer move, and most Tottenham fans are delighted with the news.
That might seem harsh but the 28-year-old right-back has been on a downward trajectory since his impressive performances in the World Cup for England last summer.
He admitted himself that he wasn’t in the best of form midway through the season but if that was supposed to galvanise him, the opposite seemed true. Trippier played possibly even worse towards the end of the season and came in for sustained criticism from the fans.
The report from Italy claims personal terms have been agreed on the move but that Tottenham have yet to agree a fee for the player, although the Mail claims that Mauricio Pochettino would be willing to sell him this summer as part of a rebuild.
The right-back has three years left on his current deal and the Standard has said that a fee of £17.5million has been touted, although this would seem pretty low to us.
A move does seem like the right play for Trippier though. Spurs fans think they need better and it’s hard to argue with that on the player’s last year. Pochettino will probably need to sell to rebuild to the extent he wants and a Trippier upgrade should be on the list.
The majority of Tottenham fans seem happy with the news, but not all supporters feel the same way, with one saying he was “gutted” at the news. Another pointed out it was really bad timing to talk about stuff like this with the Champions League final on June 1.

I feel like he'd do better in Serie A than he would in the Premier League. Less competitive league and nowhere near the intensity of the Premier League. Good luck to him if these reports are true.
