Tottenham target Julian Draxler has revealed he has no intention to leave Paris Saint Germain in the summer, according to Bild.

The German midfielder was seen as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen after the Danish international admitted in an interview with Ekstrabladet that he was ready to take the next step in his career.

Draxler has recently distanced himself with a move away from the Ligue 1 giants, saying in an interview with the German outlet: “I can not say anything about that, because I have no intention of leaving the club!”

Spurs were reported by the Daily Star, to have been offered the chance to sign Draxler for £35million in the summer but his latest comments are sure to shut down any potential in a move.

This will no doubt frustrate all those involved in the potential deal, especially Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino. With it looking more likely by the day that Christian Eriksen will leave the club after his admission, the Argentine boss will need to act quickly to find a capable replacement. 25-year-old Draxler seemed to fit the profile perfectly for what Spurs would need in a replacement. His ability on the ball would be a great inclusion in their starting 11 and after Draxler’s recent comments, the deal seems dead in the water before it had even properly begun. As a World Cup winner at Paris Saint Germain, Draxler has the mentality it will take for Spurs to push to the next level. Pochettino has yet to win any silverware during his time at the club and their recent Champions League final appearance for a first for the club. Draxler would have been the perfect installment in the middle of the park and Daniel Levy must now prepare a big bid for the signing of rumoured target Tanguy Ndombele.
