Tottenham are surely on the verge of tabling a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos after it was reported that Mauricio Pochettino has “bet heavily” on signing him this summer.

According to El Confidencial, Spurs have set their sights on the 22-year-old, who Pochettino knows well and wants to sign up before the start of next season.

It is understood that Spurs’ London rivals Arsenal and West Ham are also keen on Ceballos, but at the moment it seems as though Pochettino’s interest is far more advanced.

Daniel Levy reportedly met with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez ahead of the Champions League final last week and while Christian Eriksen’s future was the hot-topic in those talks, there’s a good chance that Ceballos’ name would have cropped up too.

El Desmarque reported in May that Tottenham are plotting a bid for Ceballos and are “willing to spend” up to £43.9million on luring the Spain international to North London.

Spurs’ link to Ceballos appears to be getting stronger and stronger and with the London club failing in reported bids for Tanguy Ndombele [Le10Sport] and Giovani Lo Celso [Mirror], there is every chance that their next bid will be for the Real Madrid central midfielder.

Ceballos, according to El Desmarque, is likely to be offloaded by Real Madrid this summer after a poor season at the Bernabeu, so there is a good chance that the La Liga giants will be easier to deal with than normal in negotiations.

Tottenham need to push on with signings sooner rather than later this summer and with Ceballos attracting attention from across the Premier League, it’s important that Levy snaps up the players that Pochettino wants.

And after not buying anyone in a year and a half, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before a formal move is made for Ceballos.
