Durham: Eriksen should leave Spurs

Adrian Durham always seems to be giving Tottenham a hard time about something.

The talkSPORT host barely seems to have a show where he isn’t picking fault with Mauricio Pochettino’s men for something or other, and it must get pretty wearing as a Spurs fan.

Even given his usual level of disapproval, however, his latest effort is really something else.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Durham systematically debunked 10 things he feels are myths about this current Spurs side.

During a breathless rant, he took aim at Hugo Lloris, Son Heung-min, and claimed that Tottenham were lucky to reach the Champions League final.

One comment in particular will leave supporters furious though.

Referring to playmaker Christian Eriksen, Durham said: “Eriksen should leave now.

“He won more at Ajax than he ever will at Spurs.”

There are two parts to this insult, firstly, and most obviously, Durham claiming that Eriksen should walk away is not going to sit well with supporters.

As reported by the Independent, Real Madrid are being heavily linked with a move for the Dane, and given his precarious contract situation, with just 12 months left and no signs of a renewal on the horizon, there is a distinct possibly that he could indeed leave north London this summer.

The last thing Spurs need is a barrage of rhetoric urging him to just that.

Which brings us onto the second point.

The most obvious reason Eriksen would leave Tottenham would be to win trophies elsewhere. The hope is that after a successful Champions League run, Spurs might be abel to convince him that glory is just around the corner.

But if Durham’s comments are anything to go on, he doesn’t believe that success is anywhere close.

Not only does his remarks encourage Eriksen’s departure, but they also insult Pochettino’s project as a whole.
