Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso wants to move to Tottenham this summer, according to Sky Sports News.

The Argentine, who has an £88 million release clause in his contract, has been heavily linked as a potential target for Spurs this summer, as reported by Football Insider.

And while it is understood that Mauricio Pochettino’s men have had their advances rejected up until this point, as reported by the BBC, the latest report from Sky suggests that the 23-year-old, who has hit 16 goals this season and assisted six more, is eager for a deal to be wrapped up.

OPINION

This is a really promising sign for Tottenham. They have to do business this summer, and ideally, they need to get it sorted out nice and early. Lo Celso has been heavily linked with a move, and on the face of it, bringing him in could be a masterstroke. He is inventive, lively, and young, and if he can be snapped up now, he could turn into a superstar under Pochettino. Any deal is going to be costly, make no mistake, but if Spurs can just bite the bullet and get it wrapped up as soon as possible, it could be a really beneficial deal in the long run. The club is in a position whereby they need to properly kick in the immediate future if they are to realise their ambitions on becoming a “big club”, and signing a player of Lo Celso’s calibre would be a fantastic start. You would hope that that task will be made a lot easier if the player is receptive to the deal going through.
