Jay-Roy Grot is set to be given another chance at Leeds United next season, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football outlet claims that Grot, who will have been forgotten by many after his dire first season at Elland Road, will be handed a second chance by Marcelo Bielsa, who is willing to give him pre-season to save his career at Leeds.

The 21-year-old endured a tough first season at Elland Road and was loaned out to VVV-Venlo after only scoring once in his first year at the Whites.

The 6’3″ forward [Source: Transfermarkt] had a much better season in Holland this campaign, scoring six and assisting three goals in his second spell in the Eredivisie.

OPINION

If there is anyone that can transform Jay-Roy Grot then it would be Marcelo Bielsa. The Argentine has worked wonders in his first year at Elland Road by transforming a poor squad into title contenders. With only a handful of meaningful signings and a bucketload of injuries, Bielsa will definitely be open to other options for his second attempt at taking Leeds back to the Premier League. At 6’3″, Grot is definitely not one to be taken lightly and could prove to a handful for any defence on his day. The Dutch youth international will need to work on his hold up play and runs into dangerous areas to become effective in this Leeds side but certainly at the ability at only 21-years-old. When Grot first arrived at Elland Road there was a sense of expectation, with the youngster looking like he could take on anything. The expectation probably got to him and he failed to make any lasting expression on the Whites’ fans but this second chance could be all he needs. Should he grasp this chance and put everything into becoming a better forward under Bielsa, Leeds could have found themselves a secret weapon who has been there all along.
