Aston Villa are expected to seal a £5million deal to sign Anwar El Ghazi permanently as a potential summer spend of £50million is mooted, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Dutch forward, who has been on loan from Lille this season and scored one of their two goals in their Championship play-off final victory, is set to remain at Villa Park for their return to the Premier League, with the winger expected to be joined by other new recruits.

It is stated Dean Smith could have £50million to spend in the transfer market as he prepares to take the club back to the top flight after a two year absence.

Opinion

For a fee of just £5million Villa really have no choice but to snap up El Ghazi this summer. He might not have hit the ground running but Dean Smith has definitely got the best out of him during his time as manager. When you consider that is just a tenth of the transfer budget said to be at the manager’s disposal this summer, it would be an absolute bargain. Yes, he does not have a proven record in England and his only real top division experience has come in the Eredivisie – hardly the biggest test for a footballer – and so it remains to be seen whether he can up his game and give the Premier League defenders something to think about. His goal in the play-off final should have his confidence soaring though and if he can keep that up until August then he could be a real danger for the Villans. Of course, nothing is signed and sealed just yet but you would expect El Ghazi to be wearing claret and blue again next season.
