Leeds United have given defender Tyler Denton the green light to leave the club this summer after failing to make the grade at Elland Road, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football news outlet claim that the 23-year-old, who is a graduate of the club’s youth system, having been born in the Yorkshire town of Dewsbury (source: Transfermarkt), has not done enough to convince Marcelo Bielsa he is worthy of a place among the senior side and with a year left on his contract is set to be sold.

It is stated the full back has already asked his agent to help find him a new club and that Leeds will welcome bids for the fringe player, who has been sent out on loan in recent years.

Opinion

Denton is likely to have been forgotten by many Leeds fans this season and understandably so. He has hardly pulled up any trees during his loan spells and with the Whites targeting a return to the Premier League, they need much better quality on their books than the 23-year-old. Leeds have been impressive in their youth production of late and Denton will go on to have a career among the lower leagues of English football, even perhaps improving enough to earn a place at a Championship side, but for now he has got to be playing regular football to develop as a player. He is not going to get that at Leeds and being shipped out on loan time and again is doing his progress no good. The time has come for him to set himself up somewhere else and there should be a club or two who come knocking to give him a chance.
