Celtic are in the hunt to sign Ipswich right-back Dylan Crowe, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that Huddersfield and RB Leipzig are also interested in signing the 18-year-old defender, whose contract at Portman Road expires this summer.

It is understood that Huddersfield have already offered £300,000 for the England Under-18 international, but Ipswich want a £500,000 compensation fee for the teenage ace.

Good move for Celtic?

Neil Lennon is going to need a new right-back or two this summer now that Jeremy Toljan’s loan has expired and doubts remain about the future of Mikael Lustig, whose contract ends soon.

Although Crowe is yet to make a senior appearance in English football, he is not far off and he should be able to get into the Hoops’ matchday squad in the Scottish Premiership if he made the switch up to Glasgow.

He is very highly rated, having been linked to Manchester United and Arsenal in the past, and there is a good chance that he would be a decent back-up right-back in his first couple of seasons while he develops.

If Lennon signs Crowe and a more experienced right-back who is an upgrade on Lustig then that positions should be sorted.

Likely to happen?

At the moment it appears that Huddersfield’s interest is way more advanced than Celtic’s while RB Leipzig are also a team that the Bhoys should be wary of considering the recent popularity of young players moving to the Bundesliga.

However the Hoops should be able to offer an easier route to their first team for Crowe if they manage to get into discussions with him and he could be convinced if players like Lustig and Cristian Gamboa leave.
