Tottenham are plotting a summer bid to sign West Brom midfielder Rekeem Harper, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the Baggies are keen to get the 19-year-old to sign a new contract with his current deal at The Hawthorns due to expire at the end of the season.

Harper has become a regular started for West Brom in the second-half of this season and has appeared in 22 matches across all competitions.

Good move for Tottenham?

Harper’s form lately has been pretty poor but that may be down to the fact that his contract situation at West Brom is yet to be resolved and it’s affecting his game.

Either way, it would not be a bad signing for Tottenham because the 6ft 2 (West Brom’s official site) England Under-19 international has shown his quality in spell this season and if he’s available for a minimal compensation fee in the summer then Spurs should definitely make an offer.

Spurs should always be on the look-out for potential bargains like this and the central midfielder represents someone who could be worth a lot of money in the future.

Likely to happen?

It is likely to hinge on whether or not Harper signs a new contract with West Brom, but that may depend on whether or not the Baggies are playing in the Premier League next season.

Albion are in the Championship play-offs and could still get promoted. However they are considered outsiders with in-form Aston Villa to play over two legs in the semi-finals.

Harper could be a Spurs player by the time next season starts.
