Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has admitted that it’s unlikely Ryan Kent will remain at Rangers once his current loan spell from Liverpool comes to an end.

The 22-year-old winger has been superb for Rangers this season, scoring six goals and supplying nine assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.

However he will return to Anfield once his loan deal expires in a matter of weeks, and Nicholas does not expect him to return to Glasgow for a second spell.

“Ryan Kent reminds me of Patrick Roberts when he was on loan at Celtic,” Nicholas told the Daily Star.

“Has made a real impact at Rangers after a slow start and would be a surprise if he’s back next season.”

OPINION

It definitely would be a shock if Liverpool were to let Kent go back on loan to Rangers, especially as this summer might be the best chance to cash in on the young winger and make a huge profit on him. Kent’s value is unlikely to get any higher than it is at the moment. He is a young English player who has come on leaps and bounds in Scotland this season. He’s quick, he’s skilful and likes to have a hand in goals. There are bound to be plenty of English clubs queuing up to sign a player of that ilk and those English clubs will have the cash to sign Kent permanently. Rangers simply won’t be able to afford Kent on a permanent basis unless they sell Alfredo Morelos and use the bulk of those funds to sign the Liverpool winger. That would not be a great idea though because that money would be better off being spread about the squad rather than just signing Kent.
