Rangers should throw everything they have at attempting to lure Charlton Athletic midfielder Joe Aribo to Ibrox as he is exactly what they need.

According to Goal, the Gers are keen on the 22-year-old central midfielder but they aren’t alone in their pursuit of him.

The football outlet claim that Celtic, Southampton and Rennes are all vying for Aribo’s signature given that his future at Charlton looks unclear with his contract set to expire in June.

If that wasn’t enough competition the Independent have also reported on the interest in Aribo to claim that Bundesliga side Frankfurt are not only in their race for him, but that they’re the favourites to sign him.

So with that level of competition for his signature it’s clear Rangers should go all out to convince the midfielder to arrive at Ibrox as that’s the only way they’re gonna win his services.

Aribo ticks all the boxes when it comes to what Steven Gerrard’s side need in the summer.

The Gers are in need of signing an attacking midfielder, Gerrard is even thought to be desperate to add a creative midfielder according to the Scottish Sun, and Aribo fits the bill.

Aribo has scored 10 goals in 37 outings for Charlton this season and also racked up five assists, so clearly he could produce at least  similar numbers at Ibrox.

Also when you consider he will only get better given he is 22-years-old as he is still learning from his experience and he’d be available on a free as his contract is set to expire, he is probably the best realistic option available on the market.

There’s also the fact that the Gers would no doubt take extra pleasure in bringing Aribo to the club as archrivals Celtic are thought to be after him as well.
