Chris Sutton shared he thought it would be a good piece of business for Celtic if they signed Bournemouth attacker Lys Mousset.

The Daily Mail previously reported that the Hoops were in pursuit of the Cherries forward with the Premier League club rating him as being worth  £10million.

Sutton reacted to the Hoops being in pursuit of Mousset and compared him to former Celtic attacker Moussa Dembele in the process.

“Similar type to Dembele…erm would he be worth it…I think..he is a physical type player, a real handful and he hasn’t enough game time at Bournemouth but there’s no shame in that with Callum Wilson and Josh King,” said Sutton on BT Sports’ season review on Periscope (13:27, Sunday May 19th).

“Yeah but I’m not sure Eddie Howe has the faith in him so I think it would be a decent piece of business for Celtic.”

OPINION

Dembele was a sensation at Celtic after joining from Fulham as he scored goals for fun. The 22-year-old scored 51 goals in 92 appearances for the Hoops before leaving last summer and if Mousset is even a fraction of the player the Frenchman was for the club; he’d become a fan favourite. However it is hard to know how good Mousset is as just like Sutton pointed out, the forward’s game time has been limited. The 23-year-old featured 24 times in the league for Bournemouth in his 2018/19 season, but only managed to complete 90 minutes on one occasion. Mousset was handed minutes here and there, so it’s hard to really assess how good he is. The attacker only managed one goal in his outings, but it’s not like he had a tremendous amount of opportunities to score during matches. Given that Mousset is still young and has previously shown tiny glimpses of being a powerful pacey striker; Celtic could play a blinder by gambling on him.
