Nir Bitton was handed another start against Hearts on Sunday afternoon and helped his side achieve a 2-1 victory. The Scottish Premiership has now ended with Celtic winning their eighth successive league triumph and finishing on 87 points. Two goals from Mikey Johnston handed the Hoops the win but midfielder Nir Bitton played a starring role in the victory. Bitton played the entire 90 minutes in what was only his seventh league appearance of the season – the Israel international’s campaign being overshadowed by a knee injury. However, the midfielder showed fans just what they’d been missing after his performance today. Bitton is still well capable of doing a job with his ability to break the game up and distribute – he could play a bigger part next term. The decision to start Bitton was a good one as he looked well established and full of desire all afternoon. The 27-year-old has been praised by Celtic fans on Twitter and rightly so, his steadiness and consistency was evident. If Neil Lennon is in charge next season, the defensive midfielder could feature a lot more and his performance today will have definitely given fans hope that he can really push on next term.
