Celtic reportedly want Manchester City attacker Patrick Roberts but if they’re going to have any chance of acquiring his signature they need to act soon.

Football Insider previously reported that the Hoops wanted to sign the 22-year-old winger and they were keeping close tabs on him as a result.

However it has since been reported by the Scottish Sun that Celtic aren’t alone in their pursuit as Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring Roberts to Leicester City with Man City only valuing the attacker as being worth £4million.

Given that Rodgers knows Roberts well after managing him at Celtic and the fact staying in the Premier League will be a tempting prospect to the winger, then the Hoops need to table their best offer sooner rather than later to make sure they don’t miss out.

This is especially the case when you consider that Robert’s £4million valuation makes him a bargain as at the age of 22-year-old there’s still a chance he can fulfil his tremendous potential; and this fact won’t be lost on other teams who will likely end up joining the race for him.

Roberts has a respectable amount of pace, slick dribbling skills and would be able to hit the ground running for Celtic as he is a proven quantity in Scotland.

The 22-year-old previously had a successful stint at the club while on loan from Man City as he racked up 18 goals and 26 assists in 78 appearances.

Celtic will be looking to improve their squad in summer, even though they were successful domestically, and who better than a young player who has previously proven himself at the club?

However when you consider that £4million on Roberts is a safe bet given his record at Celtic, the Scottish giants will miss out on him if they don’t move quickly to beat others to the punch.
