Celtic should push their luck with Chelsea in their hunt to sign Tomas Kalas in the summer after Sun journalist Alan Nixon teased fans over their asking price.

Celtic have been in the hunt for Kalas’ signature since March, and it was reported by the the Scottish Sun, that Kalas could cost the club £5million as that was how much he was rated as being worth.

In a post from his personal Twitter account, Nixon said: “A few looked during season. Will depend on price. Chelsea don’t do cheap. So likely to be 4-5 range.”

Although it seems likely that the defender may return to Bristol City in the summer, where he spent all of last season playing on loan for them in the Championship, it would definitely be worth Neil Lennon’s team trying to bid for the 26-year old before he makes his final decision on his own future.

Celtic should try and push their luck with Kalas, especially after Nixon teased on social media that Chelsea could potentially be looking for as little as £4million for the defender, after his value was a firm £5million not too long ago.

Arguably, Celtic may seem like a more appealing move for Kalas, as the move has the promise of European football and a massive likelihood of collecting a trophy throughout next season in one way or another, yet the same can’t be said for Bristol City.

The £23,000-per week man (Source: Spotrac) is  keen on looking for a move away from Chelsea in the summer according to the Bristol Post, after enduring a series of loan spells over the last few seasons, and it may be worth Lennon signing the player before the new season arrives and trying to grasp the player for £1million less than they originally believed they would have to pay.

The £1million saved could help the Hoops sign someone else after all.

The defender played 41 games in all competitions last season for Bristol City, and managed to cement himself in their starting eleven on a regular basis, and realistically, £4million doesn’t seem like too big of a price tag for a player who could potentially become one of the first names on the team sheet at the Scottish club in the coming months.
