Tottenham are set to be among a number of Premier League sides to offer Bolton Wanderers starlet Luca Connell a move to the top flight this summer, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Lilywhites will be joined by Everton, Wolves and Norwich in making a move for his capture, with the 18-year-old’s contract coming to an end this season and Bolton facing administration.

The youngster started as a left wing back but is eyed as to having a future in the middle of the park and his contract status means any club who do sign him up will need only pay compensation.

Good move for Tottenham?

You cannot take much from a youngster being handed a chance at a club strapped for cash and facing the prospect of going out of business completely, but the Bolton man does look to be a decent talent for the future.

With 12 games worth of senior experience under his belt, he has a taste of what it means to be a first team footballer and will no doubt want more of the same next season – something he will not find at Tottenham.

A loan spell might give him what he wants but knowing Mauricio Pochettino’s reluctance to send youngsters out, this might not be the best move for either party.

He is not a particularly special youngster, although the lack of price tag means it is a low risk and potentially high reward deal for the north Londoners and the other suitors out there.

Likely to happen?

With so much interest, it could well be that he picks somewhere that are going to offer him the best development – although money does always talk.

Tottenham can point to the progression of youngsters into the first team but they are looking to take themselves to the next level now and that might stop as a result.

It all depends on what the player wants but the competition means nothing is certain right now.
