Tottenham will attempt to sell attacker Vincent Janssen in the summer as they have lost faith in the forward, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish outlet claim that with Janssen’s £34,000-a-week contract (Source: Spotrac) expiring in 2020, the upcoming summer will be Spurs’ last chance to get a decent fee for him.

Estadio Deportivo report that Real Betis have resumed talks over signing the Spurs forward in recent weeks after failing to acquire his services in January, and do view him as a possible option but believe it’s a risky deal due to Janssen’s lack of football this season.

Good move for Tottenham?

Yes.

Janssen has made two appearances in the Premier League this season and that’s two too many.

The 24-year-old isn’t up to the standard Mauricio Pochettino needs him to be and the sooner he is off the books, the better it is for him and Spurs.

Janssen is still at an age where he can rebuild his once-promising looking career and given that he always gives his all when pulling on a Spurs shirt, fans should be happy to see him get an opportunity in the form of Real Betis.

The Spanish club clearly have a real interest in him after previously trying to sign him in January and with contact already made; it should be an easy deal for Daniel Levy to agree.

Likely to happen?

Spurs know that getting rid of Janssen is no easy task.

While Estadio Deportivo are probably right to report that Spurs want rid in the summer in order to recoup some of the funds they invested in him; Levy is no doubt aware the player won’t have loads of suitors to negotiate with.

With this in mind if Real Betis make a reasonable offer, which they’re more than capable of, then Janssen seems likely to end up at the La Liga club in the summer.
