Danny Murphy has predicted an all-English Champions League final ahead of Tottenham’s second-leg match against Ajax on Wednesday night.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have to overhaul a one-goal deficit in the game after losing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last week.

But Murphy thinks they can do and pointed to the second-leg of the quarter-final against Man City for the proof.

Talking on the Debate show (Sky Sports, Tuesday, 10pm) Murphy said, “Ajax have super quality and if they score first their tails will be up but I think it’s set to be a Liverpool v Tottenham final, I can feel it.

“It would be great reward for Pochettino and the players. You know sometimes you have a campaign, a cup run, you saw Tottenham at City, if they can do that at City they can do it at Ajax.”

Liam Rosenior agreed saying, “I think Tottenham will score two and go through… It’s in the balance but if I had to bet on one I think Tottenham score two tonight.”

OPINION

An all-English final would be a fitting end to a season that has proved the Premier League is back on top of European football. Ironically, the best team won’t be contesting it, but that just shows the quality in Pochettino’s Tottenham side. They dispatched Man City in the quarter-finals and although the first leg of the semi-final was disappointing, they have a huge chance to put that right in Amsterdam tonight. Tottenham won’t need any motivation to get themselves up for the game but the first goal is probably key. If Ajax get it, it will be tough, although two goals would still put Tottenham through. If Tottenham score first, Ajax’s away goal advantage is wiped out and Tottenham will have all the momentum. We’re expecting Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura to play up front and we think they’ll do a better job than they did in the 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
