Ajax coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed that there is a doubt over key attacker David Neres ahead of the Champions League second-leg in Amsterdam tomorrow night.

ten Hag went on to say he would train later but that there was a question mark over whether he would be fit or not.

Veal was quoted by journalist Jonathan Veal from the pre-match press conference.

Ajax hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg and ten Hag said his side would play to win the game tomorrow.

OPINION

If Neres missed the game it would be a huge boost for Tottenham. The attacker has been involved in 27 goals this season – scoring 12 and adding 15 assists. However, it seems as if they’re expecting him to be fit. A lot will depend on the 22-year-old coming through the training session later on. Harry Kane is likely out for Tottenham, although that’s not been officially confirmed yet. Moussa Sissoko should be fit and fans will be hoping that Jan Vertonghen has recovered to take his place in the centre of the Tottenham defence. A report yesterday claimed that Davinson Sanchez would miss the game, which would leave Pochettino short in the middle. Tottenham might be 1-0 down but the tie is far from past them. They’re more than capable of going to Amsterdam and getting a result but they’ll need to be a lot better than they were against Bournemouth on Saturday. Hopefully they’ll be able to keep 11 players on the pitch, too. One good thing that came out of the red cards is that Son Heung-min should be fully rested ahead of the second leg.
