Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder did a tremendous job winning promotion to the Premier League this season but he clearly thinks the odds are against his side replicating Wolves’ successful season.

The Blades boss was asked whether he could succeed in their first-season back in the Premier League as much as Wolves have in their current campaign, and revealed they probably wouldn’t be able to.

Wilder explained that Wolves are on a different level, despite admitting their similar-sized clubs,  as they started rebuilding their club when in the Championship.

“Do I think we can do a Wolves? Probably not, they’re at a different level to us and their rebuilding began in the Championship. They are at a totally-different level to where we are,” said Wilder, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“But we’re similar-sized clubs, they’ve survived in the Premier League and we’d love to do that too.

“Whatever happens, we’re going to enjoy it.”

While Sheffield United fans will be dreaming that their club can defy the odds and replicate the job Wolves have done in the Premier League this season, it doesn’t seem likely.

Wolves are set to finish seventh in the Premier League this season, which could spell Europa League football, and have taken everyone by surprise.

When you consider Wolves were promoted alongside Fulham and Cardiff City last season, with those two already being confirmed as relegated, it shows how well they’ve done.

Nuno Espiritio Santo’s side should take a bow for their accomplishments as a result especially after Wilder is all ready to dismiss his side as fairing as well.

It says so much that Sheffield United, who Wilder rightly deemed a similar sized club, are already thinking matching Wolves’ record this season is out of their reach.

Also Wolves’ chiefs also should particularly bask in Wilder’s comments as the fact he highlights that the club were so organised to begin their rebuild in the Championship is a testament to them.
