Jamie Redknapp heaped praise on Tottenham attacker Heung-min Son and claimed the 26-year-old got better every time he saw him.

The former Spurs player revealed he thought it must be difficult for a defender to stop Son as the South Korea international is good with both feet.

Redknapp highlighted Son’s pace and pointed out that he was a huge player for Mauricio Pochettino’s side as he gives defenders real problems.

“He’s a huge player for this Tottenham side,” said Redknapp (Sky Sports Premier League, 12:08pm, Saturday May 4th).

“He’s got pace, he seems to get better and better every time I see him, and he just gives defenders a real problem, he wants to run on beyond, he’s good off either foot so you never know whether to show him inside.”

OPINION

Eek! Redknapp probably wishes he didn’t heap praise on Son in hindsight as the 26-year-old didn’t have the best of games against Bournemouth to say the least. The Spurs attacker, who is usually a happy-go-lucky presence in Pochettino’s team, shockingly got sent off after pushing Jefferson Lerma. While Lerma made the most of Son’s push by quickly hitting the deck, the Spurs attacker deserved his red for losing his cool. Son let the pressure get to him and you can’t react like that when things aren’t going your way. Spurs ended up losing 1-0 to the Cherries without Son to call upon during the match, though it’s worth noting Juan Foyth was also sent off, and Pochettino will no doubt be frustrated with both decisions. Hopefully for Son’s sake, Spurs are able to overcome Everton without him in their last league game of the season in order to secure their top-four finish.
