Everton ‘keen’ on Ryan Fraser

Everton are “keen” on Bournemouth attacker Ryan Fraser, according to Alan Nixon, and the Sun’s transfer expert is expecting an offer to come in from a “big club”.

The Sun had previously reported that with Fraser was refusing to sign a new contract with the south-coast club and that Bournemouth would be forced to accept an offer for him this summer.

That report claimed Arsenal and Everton were interested but it looks like Everton are in pole position, with Nixon claiming Arsenal were a “maybe” for the player.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of next season and this would be the last window they would be able to get a significant fee for him. He is on a reported salary of £27,000-a-week at Bournemouth.

Nixon made the claims on his personal Twitter page on Tuesday night.

OPINION

Fraser has been a standout at Bournemouth this season, scoring 15 goals and adding eight assists for Bournemouth. He obviously wants a step up in his career and Everton would represent that. It sounds like Everton are in pole position for the Scotland international but they may face competition from Arsenal. He only cost the south coast club £400k when he signed from Aberdeen in 2013 and they will be expecting a big profit for a player who’s exceeded expectations. Fraser only scored five and added three assists last season and he’ll know this is the time to land a big-money move. Everton will offer him a significant wage increase and we can see him fitting into the team seamlessly. He does represent a slight gamble though – he’s only had one standout season – but he was easily good enough in the 18/19 season to take a punt on.
