Pierre-Michel Lasogga has been released by Hamburg and that has led to many Leeds United fans urging the Yorkshire club to re-sign the German centre-forward in the summer. Hamburg’s official English Twitter account on Monday that the 27-year-old would be leaving at the end of his contract in the summer, meaning that he is up for grabs on a free transfer. Lasogga spent last season on loan at Leeds, scoring 10 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions. It was clear at times that Lasogga had quality. He was a great finisher and a very powerful striker, something the Whites have lacked this season. However his fitness was poor and he wasn’t great in the air. Marcelo Bielsa needs players at peak fitness in their squad and as good as it might be to have Lasogga as an extra option in attack, he just won’t suit the system at Elland Road. If Bielsa goes then maybe the German would be a possibility. He scored 19 goals in 31 matches in total for Hamburg this season and there are certainly worse options out there.
