After promotion to the Premier League, Dean Smith and his Aston Villa squad celebrated wildly after ending their three year absence from the top flight.

The only thing that could have dampened the mood at Villa Park was the prospect of losing their captain and hero, Jack Grealish, who had become a reported major target for Tottenham Hotspur.

News on Thursday saw Sky Sports report that the boyhood Villan is to reject any move away from the club in the summer to captain his side in the Premier League next season – something that is vital should they wish to succeed at the highest level.

The broadcaster claim that Grealish is ready to honour the five year deal he signed in September, with the attacking midfielder not interested in anything else.

Everyone involved at the club from Dean Smith to the fans will be relishing the opportunity to watch their star man take on the Premier League with the opportunity to build a team around him and push for more than just survival in the years to come.

Grealish is and has been his side’s vocal point ever since his debut for the club in 2015 and enjoyed his best season for Villa in guiding them to promotion with his six goals and eight assists.

The 23-year-old ace will be the main reason his club thrives in the Premier League and this news could be the start of another special campaign at Villa Park.
