Daniel James is “poised” for a medical at Old Trafford as Man United prepare to complete their first transfer business of the summer, according to Football Insider

The report claims that personal terms have been agreed along with the fee that’s said to be in the region of £15million.

Now James is set for a medical this week before he heads off to join up with Wales ahead of their June Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary.

OPINION

This might not be your typical marquee Man United summer signing but it could herald the new dawn the club desperately needs. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s honeymoon period is well and truly over after a dismal end to the season but he is ready to stamp his influence on a bloated squad, with a focus on youth and determination. James has both of those attributes and at £15million could represent a real bargain. His rise has been swift. He only broke through into the Swansea team this season but did enough to get noticed by Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds who wanted him so badly he put all his efforts into landing him and only him in January, only to see the deal unravel at the last minute. Leeds’ loss could well be Man United’s gain, with James more advanced than Tahith Chong and Mason Greenwood, while still not probably being ready for a regular first-team place. The deal is pretty risk free. Man United would easily be able to sell him on if it doesn’t work out, but they’ll be hoping that Solskjaer can mould him into a Premier League star worth many more times what they’re about to pay for him.
