Ex-Tottenham striker Mido has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino could leave North London once the season is over.

Pochettino has guided Spurs to fourth place in the Premier League this season, as well as managing to reach the Champions League final in Madrid where his side will face Liverpool, but the Argentine has been linked with a potential move to take over at Juventus after Allegri’s departure, according to the Independent.

Mido has suggested that Pochettino will be leaving the club this summer, and that he could be going to take over the vacant role at Juventus.

“I think Pochettino has done a great job this season to change the system and play a little more direct up to Llorente because he had to change something,” Mido told TalkSPORT 2 on Wednesday (11:35am).

“I would be really disappointed if Pochettino leaves the club, but I think he will be leaving. Juventus would never let a manager go unless they had a deal with another manager. So I hope I’m wrong but I think he will be leaving.”

OPINION

Mido’s comments about the future of Pochettino will be alarming to Tottenham fans to hear ahead of their Champions League final with Liverpool. However, it will be interesting to see what happens with Pochettino’s future after the match against Liverpool in Madrid, with the Argentine doing an excellent job to have even got Spurs to the final this season despite not making a single signing in the last two transfer windows. Juventus now have a vacancy after Allegri’s departure and as Mido says the Italian club are usually known for having plans in place for such occasions as a managerial departure. Whether that means that the Italian champions will move for Pochettino is unknown at the moment, but if the Argentine does get made any serious offers from Juventus it might prove difficult for him to turn down. However, Tottenham still have a lot of work to do with the club just moving into a brand new stadium and Pochettino has the respect of the fans and players at the club, which could be enough to convince him to remain in North London. Tottenham supporters will be hopeful that their former player Mido is wrong about his belief that Pochettino could be leaving the club this summer, and it is vital for the club’s chances of continuing their development next season that the Argentine remains at the club this summer.
