Burnley are ready to bid £15million to sign West Brom centre-back Craig Dawson, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that the Dawson, 29, has been a long-term target of the North-West Premier League club while Sean Dyche has been in charge.

It is understood that the former Rochdale defender might get the chance to complete a switch to Turf Moor “in the next week.”

Good move for West Brom?

Yes.

Dawson has been one of the most disappointing players for West Brom this season and fans can tell that the 29-year-old no longer wants to be a part of the Black Country club.

He was widely-reported to have handed in a transfer request last summer after the Baggies’ relegation from the Premier League and since then he has not exactly hit the heights that were expected of him in the Championship.

Dawson was superb against Aston Villa in the second leg of the play-off semi-finals last week, but that performance was the best it got for the ex-England Under-21 international in the second-tier.

West Brom will do well to pocket £15million for the defensive mainstay, who made 45 appearances in all competitions this season.

Likely to happen?

Dawson has been linked with leaving West Brom for what seems like years now and if there was a time for it to actually happen, it will be this summer after Albion missed out on an instant return to the Premier League.

Burnley like to sign domestic-based players and Dawson is someone who Dyche is clearly desperate to sign.

West Brom should accept £15million for the defender because they won’t get any more for him.
