BBC pundit Noel Whelan has said that Leeds could make another move for Aston Villa attacker Albert Adomah in the summer.

The Birmingham Mail claims that initial talks were held between the two clubs last summer but the move didn’t materialise.

However, talking to Football Insider, Whelan has said he wouldn’t be surprised if Leeds reignited the move.

“He’s really dangerous, like so many of the Villa players, and would certainly strengthen Leeds’ team.

“We’ve looked at him a few times and I wouldn’t be surprised if we look at him again, especially with his contract close to running out.

“Villa know this is their last chance to get a decent price for him and that could give Leeds and a few other clubs a chance. I’m a big fan of his. He scores and creates goals, he’s quick, direct, good feet, and hurts teams.”

Adomah is reportedly on £25k-a-week at Aston Villa and is under contract until 2020.

OPINION

Whelan is obviously a big fan of Adomah and it does seem that Leeds were interested in signing him. However, Adomah is 31 and unless they could pick him up for a nominal fee, it seems a deal that would go against the Bielsa philosophy. The club said the only player they were interested in over the January window was young Swansea winger Daniel James, and he would seem like exactly the sort of player Marcelo Bielsa would like to coach. You know what you’re getting with Adomah and his powers are on the wane. James is a potential future world star and has blistering pace. We know which one we’d prefer at our club and we imagine most Leeds fans would feel the same way. We can’t see this one happening. We’d actually prefer to see young Mallik Wilks get a shot on the wing. The attacker has been on fire at Doncaster and will be coming back to Elland Road looking to make an impact on the first-team this summer.
