OPINION

Leeds fans are furious after a supporter posted a clip of Aston Villa taking advantage of a player down injured to score a goal in the Championship game against Stoke in December.

They’re still mad after the Villa players went ballistic at Elland Road after Leeds scored while Jonathan Kodjia was down injured. In the aftermath, Patrick Bamford is facing a two-match ban for deception of a referee. Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa ordered his team to let Leeds equalise after the Villa players and bench went crazy.

But it seems they might be a tad hypocritical. One Leeds fan has posted footage of – ironically – Kodjia scoring an equaliser for Villa against Stoke, with a Stoke man down injured. What makes the clip worse is that Aston Villa actually play the ball into the space left clear by the injured Sman. The Stoke players appeal while play is carrying on but Villa don’t stop and celebrate the goal without getting manhandled by their opponents.

The fan points out that some people will say it’s not the same as a Leeds player slowed down before carrying on with play on Sunday. However, he says that playing the ball into the space left by the injured player is worse – and plenty of Leeds fans think he’s got a point.
