Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen has agreed terms on a move to Real Madrid, according to Spanish outlet AS, and Tottenham fans aren’t happy.
The report says that Eriksen has agreed personal terms and Real Madrid have already opened talks with Spurs over a fee.
Eriksen has been a key member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad in recent years and most fans will be gutted to see him go. However, there are some fans who seem happy for Daniel Levy to cash in and rebuild.
We think that has more to do with the timing of the report. It comes on the back of Tottenham’s second defeat in a row in their new stadium. They lost 1-0 to West Ham on Saturday and failed to score against Ajax in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday, again going down 1-0.
Eriksen wasn’t good on Saturday and he was a last night, and that seems to have clouded the view of some Spurs’ fans.
However, if Levy can negotiate a good deal – and he’s got previous here – and get a nine-figure sum for the player, we think it could be a positive move.
There are many Tottenham fans who disagree with this saying if Eriksen left it would be a “hammer blow” and “the end of an era”.
