Sky Sports pundit Liam Rosenior has predicted that Aston Villa will win the play-offs and said that he felt for Leeds.

Talking on the Debate (Sky Sports, Tuesday, 10pm), Rosenior was asked which team would go up alongside Sheffield United and Norwich.

“It’s been a brilliant Championship season and I’ve had the pleasure of watching everyone play,” Rosenior said, “and I find it’s the team with the most momentum, and I can’t look past Aston Villa.

“Since Jack Grealish came back from injury they won 10-in-a-row up to the Leeds game and they’ve been outstanding.

“Since Dean Smith’s gone in there they’v been outstanding and they’re on a steam train at the moment.

“I can’t look past them and I feel for Leeds. I’ve been there with Brighton. You’re so close to doing something and then you have to regather and go again. From a psychological view it’s difficult and it’s a young squad at Leeds.”

OPINION

Many pundits are going with the form side at the moment in Aston Villa but we’re not so sure things are going to be so clear cut. First of all, both these sides will have to navigate a tricky semi-final. Aston Villa look set to play fierce rivals West Brom, while Leeds could play Derby, Bristol City or Middlesbrough. If they do meet in the final then looking at form you’d have to say that Leeds have the edge. Villa haven’t beaten Leeds this season, losing 3-2 at Villa Park and then drawing 1-1 in the explosive clash on Sunday. However, on the other hand, Aston Villa have all the momentum and are in sensational form at the moment. Given what happened on Sunday, every neutral will be hoping that the these two teams do face off in the richest game of the season. We can surely expect more fireworks.
