Phil Hay has delivered a Leeds fitness update ahead of the second leg of the play-off semi-final against  Derby and it’s not good news.

Midfielder Adam Forshaw, 27, is set to miss the game on Wednesday after pulling up with a hamstring injury on Saturday.

Centre-back Pontus Jansson is a doubt after missing the first game against Derby, despite saying beforehand that he’d play “in a wheelchair” if necessary.

Leeds have a one-goal lead to take into the return leg at Elland Road.

OPINION

Losing Forshaw is a blow but Leeds are used to injuries this season. And, actually, when Jamie Shackleton came on in the game on Saturday, Leeds looked even better so it could turn out to be a blessing in disguise. We fully expect Shackleton to start again on Wednesday. Jansson would arguably be the bigger blow to Leeds but Gaetano Berardi did a very good job deputising for the talismanic enforcer at Pride Park. Having a 1-0 lead to take to Elland Road should fill the side full of confidence, as should the fact that Leeds have now beaten Derby 3/3 times they’ve played them this season. However, it could have been better. Leeds were so dominant on Saturday that they could have had a bigger lead to start at Elland Road, but that’s been the story of their season so far… Dominant in possession but not converting enough of the chances that they’re creating. That should be helped by the return of striker Patrick Bamford, who missed the first leg through suspension.
