Carlton Cole sent West Ham attacker Andy Carroll a message on Instagram after it was confirmed he would leave the Hammers in the summer.

The former Hammers player took to his personal Instagram account to share that he wished the 30-year-old all the best for the future as he was a top player and a top bloke.

Cole also shared his favourite memories of Carroll at West Ham by sharing he loved one of the goals he got against Crystal Palace as well as the hat-trick he scored against Arsenal.

“Good Luck to the big man @andytcarroll Top bloke, top player and whenever he played you can see he gave his all for the club. Scored some important and some cracking goals, that Crystal Palace goal comes to mind and he also scored that hat trick against Arsenal. I wish you all the best for the future big man,” wrote Cole on his Instagram.

OPINION

The Hammers’ official website confirmed on Wednesday that Carroll was going to be one of the players to depart upon their contract ending in June, and the saddest thing was that it wasn’t a surprise. With constant reports throughout the season saying the 30-year-old’s contract was to set to end in June, it has been clear for a while that he was going to have to pack his bags. Carroll struggled to feature for Manuel Pellegrini’s side and when he did get on the pitch, he didn’t deliver the goods. The 30-year-old played 12 times in the Premier League in his 2018/19 campaign and didn’t manage to get a goal. Given that Carroll did get enough chances put his way to grab at least one goal in his outings, it says so much that he ended the season with zero goals to his name. However after playing 142 times for the Hammers, Carroll does deserve praise for what he did managed to achieve at the club; and it’s classy that Cole has took the time to wish him the best for the future.
