Raheem Sterling has sent a Twitter message to England teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi after the youngster was injured in the 2-2 draw with Burnley on Monday night.

The 18-year-old has ruptured his Achilles and will miss the rest of the season.

Hudson-Odoi had sent a tweet out saying he was “gutted’ but would “try and come back stronger for next season”.

Sterling replied saying, “With u bro, a lil setback but u’ll be back soon enough”.

OPINION

This is desperately unlucky for Hudson-Odoi who had just broken through into the Chelsea first-team. Chelsea fans had hoped he would play a big part this season at Stamford Bridge, but he’s struggled for game-time under Sarri. However, he had started the last four Premier League games – the first times he’s started in the league this season – after making his England debut. Hudson-Odoi is a real talent and while it’s a big blow for Chelsea, the one bright side is that he’s now highly unlikely to leave in the summer. Hudson-Odoi went off after 41 minutes in the game against Burnley and the home side struggled to break down Sean Dyche’s side in the second-half. The draw puts Chelsea back up to fourth but they’ve now played a game more than Arsenal who are just a single point back in fifth. Arsenal play Wolves on Wednesday night.
