COMMENTARY
There were several reasons to be cheery over watching Rangers cruise to a 3-1 victory over Hearts on Saturday, as it was an excellent performance across the board for Steven Gerrard’s side. However one brief moment in the game seem to get tremendous reaction from lots of Gers supporters. This moment came in the 86th minute when Matt Polster was brought on to replace Steven Davis in order to make his debut. While he was only given a few minutes to play against Hearts, it’s fair to say Gers supporters were grateful to see him. The 25-year-old had some fans sarcastically giving him the Man of the Match award, an indication they wanted to see him play longer. One dubbed Polster a giant upon seeing him on the pitch for the Gers for the first time. However while it was nice to see Polster featured, even briefly, it would be even better to see him given a fair chance in the games that remain. This is especially the case when you consider that one Gers fan rightly pointed out that the 25-year-old’s debut didn’t even see him play in his natural position of right-back, as he was deployed in midfield.

Excellent performance by the boys today. Kamara or Davis man of the match for me. Good to see Defoe amongst the goals and put himself about. He’s clearly not just here for a final pay day. Nice to see big Polster get a run out too. Well done Rangers ??
