Tottenham have made Donny Van de Beek their number one target should Christian Eriksen leave to Real Madrid this summer.

In a report by FC Inter News, Spurs are claimed to be in the front row for the young Dutch midfielder’s signature.

Ajax will request up to £43million for Van de Beek who Inter will challenge the English club to sign. That figure has doubled since last season due to the great form of the Ajax starlet.

The report also claims that Mauricio Pochettino will “shell out without delay” in their chase for a potential replacement of one of their stars.

Good move for Tottenham?

Donny Van de Beek has been in inspired form for his club Ajax this season, helping them to a Champions League semi-final. A 22-year-old who has already been capped numerous times by his country and would fit seemingly into a team that like to play quick, attacking football. The starlet has been involved in 17 goals for his side this season with nine goals and eight assists and has been essential in his sides push for another domestic title. This would be a great move for Spurs, bringing in a young and tested midfielder who will slot straight into a position for a decade and maybe even more.

Likely to happen?

The fact that Ajax have set a price tag on one of their prized assets could suggest they are prepared to let Van de Beek leave in the summer after a fantastic year. The price they have set is a bargain in the current market and the Spurs appeal will have increased this season with Champions League success. Tottenham haven’t spent much in previous years and they definitely need midfield re-inforcements as highlighted in the previous weeks. Both Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks have struggled for fitness with the latter potentially missing for the season. Van de Beek would be the perfect replacement and Spurs should do everything to sign the Ajax sensation.
