Adrian Durham claimed Leeds United attacker Patrick Bamford and Aston Villa midfielder Connor Hourihane should miss the Championship play-offs after their actions on Sunday.

The broadcaster shared that the duo should be banned for the vital games as he condemned Bamford for appearing to feign injury and claimed that after seeing Hourihane appear to have a pop at Mateusz Klich he should be suspended too.

Durham made the remarks after a Leeds fan called into say that they envisioned that it would be a two or three match ban for Bamford.

“Well I wouldn’t have a problem if he (Bamford) was to miss all the play-offs at all, I think that should happened,” said Durham on talkSPORT (16:26, Monday April 29th).

“The footage I’ve seen, the Villa player (Hourihane) having a pop at Klich in the aftermath if that Villa player, (Gough said same ban), yeah I agree he should miss the play-offs as well.”

OPINION

It’s hard to remember anything that wasn’t controversial that happened in Leeds’ 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday as all the unsavoury scenes overshadowed the whole match.  Once everything kicked off during the match, it was clear to see that retrospective action would end up being taken. It was hard to believe some of the sights as Bamford clearly looked to be faking that he had been hit, while others, like Hourihane, seemed to be ready for a good old fashion brawl. Both Leeds and Aston Villa fans were no doubt bracing themselves for their play-off bids to take a hit after the flashpoint during the match, however if either were to lose a player for the entire play-offs, it will be probably worse than they were expecting. Yet given how harsh it sounds for a player to miss the entire play-offs, maybe the FA will avoid dishing out that punishment. Although Durham is unlikely to be the only notable voice to want the book thrown at both clubs.
